What would you consider to be the most beneficial aspect of the BuildingLink platform?

The communication tools on our site are amazing and multifaceted. The time/frustration they save are invaluable in promoting prosperous relationship for our clients.

What is the most satisfying creative project you are currently working on?

Currently I'm working on my own scripted webseries as well as working on the new season for my theatre ensemble. It's really exciting and terrifying the same time.

What would you select to be your own personal theme song?

"She's a Lady" by Tom Jones -- 'cause I am... Done.

What is your primary role at BuildingLink?

Software training and technical support. I'm also Department Chair of Silly Things, which involves crafting diversions such as "Tech Support Bingo" and "Secret Sandwich Exchange."

What inspires you in your work at BuildingLink?

Keeping a major property running smoothly is a major undertaking, especially for the engineers, handymen, doormen, and concierge staff who are on the front lines. When I visit a property, show the staff how BuildingLink can make their lives easier, and see how grateful they are, that's a great feeling.

What is the most satisfying creative project you are currently working on?

I've played in a variety of bands – blues, soul, rock & roll, ska – that have all been hip and rewarding in different ways. Fellow BuildingLinker George MacDonald and I currently play in a funk-soul band called The Irresponsibles, which is a real kick.

What inspires you in your work at BuildingLink?

How thankful and happy our customers are when we provide them with great support. It's a nice feeling to make someday's day easier!

How do you express your creativity outside of the office?

I've always liked to take random art classes, while I was at college and still now while I'm working. Right now I'm taking classes in jewelry fabrication and sewing. Never stop learning!

What form of tech are you still waiting for?

Teleportation! Anything to get me off the subway!

How would you answer the question, "What is BuildingLink?"

"A godsend for property managers..." That’s just what I heard them say.

What inspires you in your work at BuildingLink?

How far the company has come and the persistence of everyone behind the scenes who got BuildingLink into nearly 3,000 buildings but who also continuously strive to meet the needs of our property managers and staff. We want to continue to have the best residential management platform out there so we are keeping our ears open to implement modules that will greatly impact our customers. We are very customer oriented and you just don’t see that much anymore.

What form of tech are you still waiting for?

Cloning would be kind of cool. But also... maybe the worst thing ever.

What would you consider to be the most beneficial aspect of the BuildingLink platform?

The user-friendly nature of the software. It navigates so seamlessly despite how robust and deep the software seems to go. For as much as it offers, it is HIGHLY intuitive.

What inspires you in your work at BuildingLink?

Since day one, I've been inspired by the continued updates and improvements we're always making to the site, as well as being surrounded by a highly-motivated, energetic, and friendly office.

What form of tech are you still waiting for?

Hover Boards and Flying Cars. Back To The Future promised 2015 would be the year.

What would you consider to be the most beneficial aspect of the BuildingLink platform?

The most beneficial aspect of BuildingLink is its ability to improve all aspects of communication in a building—communication amongst a building's staff makes their jobs easier and improves the lives of residents as well. At its core, I believe BuildingLink is an outstanding platform for communication.

What is the most satisfying creative project you have worked on or are currently working on?

I used to teach English to middle schoolers, and getting them engaged in reading, writing, and critical thinking was easily the most satisfying creative project I've ever worked on.

What form of tech could you live without and why?

I don't like the idea of smartwatches and wearable tech. NYC can be quite crowded and the idea of elbows sticking out all over the place and people tapping on their wrists is too much for me to handle.

What BuildingLink module seems to be the most used/popular/valuable to your customers?

The maintenance module offers value to every unit of a property. The residents are easily able to input repair requests to have work done in-unit using our app or via their home computer; maintenance staff are able to stay on top of all the work being done in the building, record actions taken on particular requests, automatically notify residents and colleagues with updates, track preventative maintenance and set up recurring tasks to automatically remind them of work orders, keep profiles on their equipment items including warranty information, and track tickets assigned to different employees or outside vendors; and management is able to pull reports on completed work orders, search the history for particular items, and run charge-back reports to help with inventorying. It is an incredibly thorough module wherein each piece of functionality works symbiotically with all of the others.

What is the most satisfying creative project you are currently working on?

I just formed a new band with a longtime friend and collaborator. We are in the process of writing all new songs. One of the most satisfying things in my life is to go to the practice space in the evening and make music with friends. We just got a new practice space in Brooklyn near the Brooklyn Bridge; there are these big windows that look out over the Brooklyn skyline with a view of the navy yards. It is a good feeling to just be in there for a hours playing guitar.

What form of tech are you still waiting for?

Many of us in the BuildingLink office have standing desks, but some are still holding out for the Hot Tub Desk.

What BuildingLink module seems to be the most used/popular/valuable to your customers?

There are too many to choose from! Every customer has such different and unique needs but the primary modules that seem to benefit most buildings are our package tracking, maintenance, and communication features.

How do you express your creativity outside of the office?

I teach reading and writing classes at night at a local college. I really enjoy my students and particularly enjoy helping my students understand and express their perspectives of the world around them.

If you were the mayor of a large metropolitan city, what great contribution would you like to be remembered for?

It would be the only town where only fresh, local, and organic food could be sold and would also be very energy efficient. There would have to be as many trees and parks as people and businesses.
So yes... it would be extremely expensive.

How would you answer the question, "What is BuildingLink?"

BuildingLink is the answer to the question: "What is a cost-effective, eco-friendly way to streamline communication and maximize organization in my building?"

What is the most satisfying creative project you have worked on?

A fundraising video for an organization called Team Tobati, that resulted in raising over $25,000 for the students of Tobati, Paraguay.

What form of tech could you live without and why?

Bluetooth for cell phones. I don't know how much it actually protects you from radio waves. Most people still hold on to their phones while they use them, and it makes you look like a crazy person yelling to yourself.

What BuildingLink module seems to be the most used/popular/valuable to your customers?

It probably sounds "cliché," but the Event Log is the module that I see most frequently used – package tracking is something of great importance to most buildings. Otherwise, the communication tools at a whole are incredibly valuable.

What form of tech could you live without and why?

It's not technology, per se, but I could definitely do without some of the forms of social media we have today. There's only so much we need to share about our daily lives, and I don't need to read or watch videos about my friends' every moves!

What is the most satisfying creative project you have worked on?

Directing my first play was very rewarding – seeing all of the pieces come together felt great.

What is your primary role at BuildingLink?

I train staff at our properties, new staff at BuildingLink, and I'm the creative guy who figures out if your bug is actually a bug before it gets sent to programming. "Oh, your signature pad stopped working for one event type only? That's because you have an apostrophe in the event type name." True story!

How do you express your creativity outside of the office?

I went to college for music composition which I still pursue. When I first got to NYC I was commissioned to compose music for a few short films, dance productions, dramas, and one comedy. Today, I play guitar in a soul band with Garrett and I maintain our website www.irresponsibles.nyc.

What is your favorite snack in the office?

Coffee.

What BuildingLink module seems to be the most used/popular/valuable to your customers?

It's a tie between the resident profiles and the event log. Resident profiles are popular because they allow residents and property managers easy access to a particular unit's basic information. The event log is just an obvious winner, it's easy to use, and it seems that ‘events' that could happen at a front desk (packages, dry cleaning drop off, etc.) are challenging to track at properties, especially larger ones.

How do you express your creativity outside of the office?

Outside of the office I play music (guitar specifically) and am an avid yogi.

What form of tech could you live without and why?

I could NEVER live without google maps. I am pretty sure I could get lost getting out of bed in the morning.
